Julie is Head of Sustainability at Hertfordshire County Council, leading the implementation of the Sustainable Hertfordshire Strategy and driving the Council’s climate change and sustainability ambitions. With over 25 years’ experience in local government, Julie has worked extensively in planning and sustainability, focusing on developing, implementing, and monitoring sustainability strategies and policies. She is the current Chair of the Hertfordshire Sustainability Officer Group and former Chair of the Local Government Association Sustainability Action Network. Julie contributes nationally and regionally as a bid assessor and awards judge (including UKRI and Chamber of Commerce), a panellist at sustainability conferences, and through roles on the Climate Forum East and ADEPT Climate Change Board. Passionate about supporting women in sustainability, Julie is also a Director of She is Sustainable, a Community Interest Company. She holds an undergraduate degree and two master’s degrees in Public Management and Spatial Planning, alongside a CMI Level 5 qualification in Sustainable Business Management.
